February 2010Dear Sisters and Brothers: You are cordially invited to attend the stated meeting on Friday, February 26, 2009 at 7:30pm , for the purpose of receiving petitions, balloting, and transacting any business that may legally come before the Chapter. Sister Officers may wear colored gowns. Collation : Under the direction of Sister Lois A. Taylor, A.M., assisted by Sisters Judy A. Porter and Jacqueline E Poisson and Brother Norman J. Poisson. Congratulations to Brother William R Whitney who was appointed Grand Representative to Scotland, and Sister Judy A Porter who was appointed Grand Representative to Minnesota at our January meeting. Sickness and Distress: Robert Norton PGP still inpatient at Concord Hospital and could use cards and well wishes. We also keep Sisters Elaine Strand, Virginia Jennings, and Josephine Millett on our prayer list. Brother Raymond M Flynn PP is recuperating from recent surgery. Sympathy is extended to Sister Pauline Lawrence whose husband passed away in January. Sister Lilla Hammon d Initiated: May 25,195 6 Died : January 24, 201 0 A 53-year member Letters for Scholarship: An OES Educational Scholarship through NH Grand Chapter is available for Eastern Star members and their family members. Our Chapter has the ability to nomination one person yearly to apply for this scholarship. If you or a member of your family is interested in being considered to be sponsored by our Chapter you must submit a letter to the Chapter secretary no later than February 25. The Secretary will read all letters received to the Chapter at our February meeting, and then a vote will me taken to chose one candidate to sponsor for the scholarship this year. The ESTARL Scholarship (for religious training) and the Albert Miner Scholarship (for vocational education) are also two Scholarships available. Please contact the Secretary for further information. Nashua Assembly #9 I.O.R.G.: Meetings are held on the first and third Thursdays of each month at 7: 00 pm. OES members are encouraged to attend any event. The next meetings are February 4 and 18. The girls are always looking for new members to join their Order. If you know of a girl ages 11-20 who you feel may be interested in joining Rainbow, please contact Mrs. Lisa F. Britko, PM, Mother Advisor, at 888-8533 or auntielisab@gmail.com. Rainbow Pledge/Sparkle Group: The Pledge and Sparkle group has 15 young girls at their meetings, which certainly lends for a lively evening of fun. Please feel free to come join the fun and assist as an advisor for an evening. Call Sisters Sharon M. Jackson, PM, Pledge Mom at 603-598-2682 or Stacy M. Desrosiers, PM, at 579-0519 if you would like to help out. Our Pledge group is for girls between 6 & 11 years old and our Sparkles group is for girls, ages 4-6 years old. They meet on the same date and time as the Rainbow meetings. The next Pledge Breakfast is February 21 from 7:30 to 10:30 am. Visitation Preparation: There will be three rehearsals in preparation for our March Visitation and all officers should plan to attend them: February 28, March 7 and March 21. Sister Lisa J.M. Proulx, PM, offered to assist with the Tea in the afternoon. If you would like to help her with this please contact her. Please start bringing in all huggables to decorate the Chapter room for our Visitation. We are also looking for a few members willing to quilt or knit blankets for the WGM/WGP blanket project. Booklet: Directory : The new edition of the 2009 Nashua Masonic Family Directory is now available at a bargain price of $3.00. It is also available on CD at a cost of $2.00. Contact Sister Lisa J.M. Proulx, PM, if you would like one at 603-673-2452. Polo Shirts: Sister Lois A. Taylor is selling embroidered Polo Shirts with the OES emblem and Pilgrim Chapter #55. The cost of these shirts is $20.00. Please contact Sister Lois at 603-377-6877 if you are interested in purchasing one. Murder Mystery Dinner Night: Please put this on your calendar as we gear up for our fundraiser. "Murder on the Petulant Express" will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Our own members of the Chapter will be performing in what will become an interesting evening. The date is Friday, April 30 in Nashua. Cost is $25 per person or $40 per couple. We will be having a Prime Rib dinner. Reservations with payment need to be made to either Jennifer A. Taylor, WM, or Jeffrey L. Brown, WP.
