Pilgrim Chapter No. 55 Order of the Eastern Star Include List

December 2008

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

You are cordially invited to attend the stated meeting on Friday, December 26, 2008 at 7: 30pm, for the purpose of receiving petitions, balloting, and transacting any business that may legally come before the Chapter. Sister Officers may wear colored gowns to the meeting.

Collation - Under the direction of Sister Jennifer A. Taylor, A.M., assisted by Sister Jacqueline E. Poisson and Brother Norman J. Poisson.

Monthly Donations/ARK Service Project - This term we will be performing Acts of Random Kindness and focusing on our Veterans, Animals, and Children/Youth in our area. During the month of November, we placed flags on Veterans graves and gave socks, gloves, hats, and sweaters to different homeless shelters in the city.

For December, please bring an unwrapped gift for any age child to give to the Children's Home. They will be taken over the Sunday after Christmas. In addition, if you have any animal toys or blankets, the little doggies could use a little joy and will be given to Foster Families to help with their care.

Lastly, enclosed with this month bulletin is our Shut ins list. Please do send them cards when you can and visit them if possible.

Dues and Assessment - The dues for 2009 will he $25; of that $5.00 is what is assessed each member by Grand Chapter and $2 goes to operating expenses of the Chapter as suggested per our bylaws.

In addition to our annual dues,an explanatiun of the new assessment is enclosed. This year, the Nashua Masonic Temple has had rnajoor renovations, all of which were necessary repairs due to safety issues. The bricks on the North and West sides of the building were refaced and repaired, and a new heating system was installed. However, the other two sides of the building still need to be refaced and the roof requires attention and repair.

The Masonic Building Association is establishing a Building Repair Fund to finish repairs needed and have funds available for future needs. Thus, the Nashua Masonic Lodges, Nashua York Rite, Nashua Scottish Rite, and Pilgrim Chapter will be assessed a fee of $10.00 per dues paying member (excluding members that have their dues remitted). This money will be used solely for the purpose of repairs to the Nashua Masonic Temple. This fee will be assessed to Pilgrim Chapter each year until further notice. It is hoped that once repairs are completed we will no longer need to pay this assessment, however, until then it is requested that every dues paying member help out on this assessment bill coming up in March of 2009.

Our Nashua Masonic Temple is a beautiful structure and a steadfast foundation for all of our Orders and for the city of Nashua. Please help us to keep the heritage alive and well! If you have any questions regarding this assessment, please contact Sister Joan or Brother Brian Smith, Sister Pam Williams (our OES Trustee Committee designate) or Brother Larry Gullett (Chairmen of OES Finance ("ommittee).

From the East- When we give to others - of our time, resources, and friendship - we are blessed beyond measure. God always sees to it that our cup overflows when we stop to fill another's cup first.

Somebody did a kindly deed;
Somebody proved a friend in need;
Somebody sang a beautiful song
Somebody smiled the whole day lone
Somebody thought 'Tis sweet to live
Somebody said `7 m glad to give
Somebody fought a valiant fight;
Somebody lived to shield the right.
Was that somebody you?

May we all find that 2009 brings us peace, joy, friendship, good health. Take time out and look for that beautiful Eastern Star.

With much fraternal love,
